A Case of Primary Biliary Cirrhois in a Male Patient

Abstract

|
he primary biliary cirrhosis (PBC) is considered to be autoimmune chronic liver disease. It is characterized by progressive inflammatory destruction of intrahepatic bile ducts. PBC will
cause cholestasis that may progress to cirrhosis and finally result in the liver failure. PBC is
a rare disease in Asia and extremly rare in male patient. The author has experienced a case
of primary biliary cirrhosis in 59-year-old male who suffered from pruritis, general weakness
and jaundice. We report a case of primary biliary cirrhosis in male patient with review of
literature.
